I was never a horse girl growing up but I found friendship is magic to be magical. I became a brony/pegasister for a bit my favourite ponies were Twilight, Derpy, Dr Whooves, Sweetie Belle and Maud Pie. One of my favorite episodes is the 100th episode slice of life which is about all the other ponies in town trying to organise for Cranky donkeys wedding while the mane six are in the background battling a monster. It brings all the elements of fanon and made them canon eg. Bon Bon being a secret agent called Sweetie Drops, DJ Pon3 and Octavia living together and being an odd couple there was even a voice over contemplating the meaning of life from Gummy Pinkie Pie's pet alligator.
I related to the mane characters so much from Twilight's inability to keep friends but love of research, Rainbow's intense interest in the Wonderbolts and flying, Rarity's people pleasing and wanting everyone to like her, Applejack's honesty and her feeling that she has to live up to expectations, Pinkie's distractability and humor and Fluttershy's anxiety around other ponies but love of animals. There is so much to each character that you don't see in a lot of shows made for girls. You can also take almost any character and headcanon them as Autistic they all have Autistic traits which are part of their personalities. Special shout out to Maud Pie and her special interest in rocks, any episode with Pinkie and Maud being the focus is just the best.
Not me sitting here after just retrieving my G1 Medley, which is my favorite Pony ever, that my mother repurchased for me when I was in my 30s 😆. I guess I'm spending the day reading about MLP and actively seeking a Wind Whistler!
