THIS!!!!! It brings me to tears. Why did Matt’s wife NOT trust Matt of all people with taking the lead on diagnosing his son? I can’t believe that this even happened. It just shows how people that are able to diagnose autism are bullies!!! They bully parents. They bully parents into signing up and paying for their kids to be bullied and traumatized 40 hours a week!! They definitely bullied me. Luckily I figured out how abusive ABA was on my child and my family and quit after about a year. (A year too long.) My heart breaks because many autistic kids (toddlers really) are subjected to 40
hours a week. If anyone has ever tried to keep that kind of schedule for their child, you know it is intense for the entire family. I felt like they took my baby away from me. They wouldn’t even let him take naps at 18mos. I just can’t. This HAS to change. I am so sorry Matt. This is awful. My neighbor will not allow her daughter to be diagnosed because she is afraid that if her daughter has kids when she grows up, she risks having them taken away from her for being autistic if the father of her kids is neurotypical and wants to “fix” the kids. All of this is horrible. I have never been able to read a full evaluation of my son. The evaluations are just so awful. The autism community is so divided on these “treatment” issues. It is so sad. Ableism is so damaging.

And my poor neighbor’s parents were fans of the Duggers and she was raised the shiny happy people way! Oh man it’s so bad.
