Neurodivergent Narratives - Writing Prompt #23
“Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” —Mary Oliver
Can you believe it’s been six months since we kicked off Neurodivergent Narratives? What started as an experiment—an idea to create a low-demand, neurodiversity-affirming space for writing—has become something truly special. Over 200 people have participated so far, and I have to say, the quality of writing I’ve been reading is incredible. Every week, I see so much growth, confidence, and creativity in this community. It’s a privilege to witness people discovering their voices, sharing their stories, and embracing writing on their own terms.
When I launched this, I wanted it to be different—no red pens, no pressure, no deadlines. Just a space to channel writing joy when it feels good. And you all have taken that concept and run with it. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just jumped in, you’re proving that writing doesn’t have to be a struggle. It can be a tool for self-expression, for processing, and for connection.
And who knows? Maybe you’ve already written something you love—something that might even end up in our Neurodivergent Narratives 2025 Anthology. This optional capstone project will showcase writing from our community, giving you the chance to share your work with the world (under your name or a pseudonym, because choice matters). If that’s a goal that excites you, keep showing up, keep writing, and when the time comes, you’ll be ready.
Whether you're writing personal essays, short stories, poems, or just exploring what feels right, Neurodivergent Narratives is here to support you. And if you ever need guidance—whether it's turning an idea into a book proposal or self-publishing—I'm here for that too.
If you’ve been lurking and waiting for the right moment to dive in, take this as your sign. Your words matter, and this space is here for you.
