Neurodivergent Narratives - Writing Prompt #12
“The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.” —Maya Angelou
As I sit here in Aberdovey, Wales, on the third and final day of my writing retreat, I’m deep in the thick of it—writing the last eight chapters of my new book, Autistic Culture. This book has been years in the making, and I can’t wait to share more news soon about (hopefully!) landing a book deal. Writing it has been both a challenge and a joy, and being surrounded by the calming waves and crisp sea air has been the perfect backdrop for diving deep into the heart of Autistic culture.
But I’m not here alone. I’m also coaching another author through her own book journey—helping her stay on track with her writing, holding space for her ideas, and guiding her through the process of bringing her vision to life. It’s work I love, because I know firsthand how daunting it can be to get from an idea to a finished book, especially as a neurodivergent writer. Whether it’s body doubling for accountability, offering editorial support, or helping craft a book proposal that stands out to publishers, I thrive on supporting neurodivergent authors who have stories to tell but need a little help getting there.
If you're someone who dreams of getting a book deal or, like my retreat client, already has one but needs accountability to get it done, I’d love to support you. Neurodivergent Narratives is a great place to get your writing juices flowing, but if you’re looking for one-on-one guidance to take your writing to the next level, hit reply to this email or visit my website at AngelaKingdon.com. No pressure, just possibilities.
