Exciting News: We're Building a Neurodivergent Podcast Collective! 🎙️
Read now (5 mins) | Help us amplify neurodivergent voices.
January 22, 2025
I’m so excited to share something we’ve been working on behind the scenes. As of today, we’re launching the Neurodivergent Podcast Collective, a new initiative to help you discover fantastic podcasts made by and for neurodivergent people.
In the coming months, you might hear us mentioning other podcasts during our episodes of The Autistic Culture Podcast—and that’s because we’re collaborating with like-minded creators to amplify each other’s voices and spread Autistic joy.
What Is the Neurodivergent Podcast Collective?
The Neurodivergent Podcast Collective is a growing network of podcasters who are committed to:
✨ Spreading Autistic Joy – Creating spaces where autistic individuals can express themselves and connect.
✨ Building Community – Helping more people find content that makes them feel seen and understood.
✨ Supporting One Another – Sharing our podcasts to reach new audiences and strengthen our collective presence.
The idea is simple: when we support each other, we grow together.
Who Qualifies to Join?
We’re looking for neurodivergent podcasters who are actively creating content and engaged with their audience. To join the collective, your podcast should:
Align with neurodivergent-affirming values and center lived experiences, advocacy, or education.
Have at least six published episodes, with one released in the past 30 days.
Be committed to releasing at least twelve new episodes per year.
Average 50 or more downloads per episode
Show active engagement with your audience in at least one alternative channel - social media, newsletters, etc.
Want to grow authentically through collaboration and mutual support.
We are limiting the collective to 12 members to ensure that each podcast gets the attention and support it deserves. This allows us to maintain a tight-knit community where everyone benefits from meaningful collaboration.
What Are the Requirements for Members?
Podcasters in our collective will collaborate to amplify each other’s voices and reach wider audiences. As a member, you’ll commit to:
Cross-Promotion: Feature at least all fellow podcast at least once per year through:
Host-Read Promo Swap: A short, host-read ad for another podcast in at least one episode (pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll).
Show Notes Link: Include a link to the promoted podcast in your episode show notes.
Email Mention: Feature the podcast in at least one email newsletter.
Social Media Shoutout: Post about the featured podcast on your social media platform of choice.
Accountability: To ensure transparency and fairness
Tracking Progress: Log all promotions in a shared spreadsheet to keep everyone accountable.
Provide Feedback: Share thoughts and suggestions to help us continuously improve and evolve.
Community Engagement: Stay connected and supporting one another
Quarterly Meetings: Attend ideally all, but at least one, collective meeting per year to discuss strategies and share insights.
Group Chat Participation: Stay active in our WhatsApp chat to collaborate and stay informed.
Monthly Check-Ins: Optional virtual check-ins to share ideas, troubleshoot challenges, and stay motivated.
Shared Resources: Members will have access to and are encouraged to contribute to our collective Google Drive but absolutely no promotion or sales are allowed
New ideas and insights to help all members succeed.
Templates and tools to make promotions easier.
Tips and best practices for growing your audience.
A space to share your own knowledge and resources with the community.
We want this to be a supportive, low-pressure space where podcasters can uplift each other while staying true to their unique voices and creative processes.
Do You Have a Podcast that Might Be a Fit? Or Know Someone Who Does?
We’re looking for more amazing podcasts to join the collective, and we’d love your help!
If you—or someone you know—hosts a neurodivergent-affirming podcast that aligns with our values, we’d love to hear about it. Whether it’s about autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or any other aspect of neurodivergence, we want to support and amplify the voices that need to be heard.
To recommend a podcast (yes, you can recommend your own!), just email us at AutisticCulturePodcast@gmail.comwith:
The podcast name and link.
A short description of the show.
Why you think it would be a great fit for the collective.
You’ll Hear More Podcast Mentions on Our Show
As part of the collective, we’ll be cross-promoting other neurodivergent-affirming podcasts, so you might notice:
Short promos read by Matt and I for other shows during our episodes.
Links to featured podcasts in our show notes.
Social media shoutouts introducing you to other amazing creators.
Mentions of other podcasts in our email newsletter.
By sharing these podcasts, we’re making it easier for our community to discover content that aligns with our values and provides meaningful representation.
This collective is all about connection, celebration, and community. Whether you're a podcaster yourself, or you simply love listening and want to support neurodivergent creators, we’d love for you to be part of this journey with us.
Know a great neurodivergent podcast? Let us know!
This sounds exciting! I'm not a podcaster myself but I did put together a couple of posts recommending neurodivergent podcasts (including your good selves)! Most of them are still active as far as I know: https://autcasts.substack.com/p/autcasts-recommends-neurodivergent-4f1 and https://autcasts.substack.com/p/autcasts-recommends-neurodivergent
I wish I'd got my podcast together already but been focusing on my writing! What a great initiative - look forward to hearing more. I love listening to the "Autistic at 40" podcast.
